My research examines spatial patterns of sediment organic matter and carbon within coastal seagrass meadows. I am specifically interested in the drivers of these patterns across multiple spatial scales and how unvegetated patches may influence those patterns. The goal of my work is to better understand the ability of heterogeneous/patchy seagrass meadows to sequester sediment carbon, to better inform management and restoration with seagrasses declining globally.

What made you choose this graduate program at UW–Madison?

I grew up in Madison and the FMS program was always highly regarded globally. Between my personal connection to the city and the reputation of the program, it felt like an easy choice to come back to Madison for my PhD.
